Overview

Vincent Vingerhut is a character in Suikoden IV.
He was the leader of the Island of Razril.

Profile[]

Background[]

Vincent was the man who found Razro at sea, gave him a home, and raised him along with his other son Snowe. However, he could not bring himself to treat both boys the same way and gave his preference to Snowe in everything. This became even more evident when the boys went to the Gaien Marine Knights Academy; indeed, he would always use his influence to let Snowe be given a special treatment.

In his hopes to see his son emerge from his studies as a proper leader, able to take his succession as island leader and Duke, Vincent used his political weight and reputation to support his son and have him given important missions, even though Snowe was not always up to it. Likewise, when the sad events involving the Rune of Punishment and Glen Cott's death occurred, Vincent Vingerhut did all he could to avert the suspicions of murder from Snowe, who also witnessed the scene, to have Razro accused instead, thus supporting Snowe's unsure testimony with all his might.

Story[]

Game[]

After the death of the former Commander of the Gaien Marine Knights, Vincent appointed Snowe as new Commander, much to Katarina's dismay.

His cowardice and nepotism reached a limit during the Kooluk invasion, for he did nothing to repel the assailants, surrendered and let his son agree on helping them in exchange for the island's safety. Needless to say, the people didn't appreciate their leader's actions. When Razro and the Island Liberation Navy finally liberated Razril from the Kooluk rule, Vincent attempted to reassert his authority as Razril's Duke. However, like his son, Vincent had taken his authority over others for granted and was shocked when the people of Razril expressed their discontent with him. He was then expelled from the territory along with his few remaining followers. Vincent's fate afterwards is unknown, though Snowe once said it is likely that he will never see his father again.

Trivia[]

  • Vincent Vingerhuts name might come from the german word Fingerhut, which means thimble.
