Missables : Some characters, items, epic skill, characters liking points are missable when you advance the game to a certain point or make the wrong choice.

Liking points system : Suikoden V presents a new system that affects Prince’s bonds with other characters through dialogue options which will show effect on some extra scenes, game endings, characters recruitment, cooperation attacks power. For more details, check out this Liking points guide .

Early decent armors : Georg, Kyle, Miakis initially start with these armors but won’t stay long with you until mid-late game, so you’d want their gear for your main characters Prince, Lyon, Sialeeds. Think about Miakis‘s Shield rune as well.

Equipment set : when you equip a character with full parts of a set, special bonus of that set will be added to the character. Recommended set:

Samurai set(mid-heavy type) : +131 def, +7 att, +7 tech, +3 evade, +10 HP. Bonus : +10% critical hit, +10% double critical hit

Sun set: +224 def, +5 all stats, +5 sun att. Bonus: For Prince only, +5 all stats

Winsdpun set(heavy type) : +219 def, +12 evade, +3 wind att, +3 wind def, -14 speed. Bonus : +34 speed.

Major war battles : Try to kill off all enemies units before reaching the battle’s goal because some of them will drop valuables which may even be better than rewards from Victory+. You can pause the war with Select button.

Cooperation attacks : use them as much as you can because they are free of charge and never miss which make your attack either stronger or become AOE. Note: participants still critical hit or multi strike in cooperation attack as they do with normal attacks, just the animation won’t show.

Formations : Not only boost up your stats but can be use as another type of cooperation attack for your party. Check out Striking arrow or Tiger for single target or Cross or True Men attack for field attack formation. Circle formation is useful when you want a free attack turn or are in need to hunt something with hunter rune because its special can unbalance all enemies when used.

Preparation for New Game+ : Only party skill points will carry over, so you would want to convert all personal SP to party SP before going to reunion with Zweig and Lyon team in the final dungeon(point of no return). Most items/gears/runes will carry over to NG+ if they stay in your inventory or in your vault, in other word, if your characters are equipping them during the final battle, they won’t carry over. Some good items to keep for NG+ are :

Attack ring, stamina ring, speed ring, guard ring (limited to 1 per playthrough)

Hunter rune for early farming. Fortune rune for easy leveling ( if one character equip fortune rune, all party members get double EXP)
