Thomas is the Tenkai Star of Suikoden III. Despite being under that star, he is not regarded as the main hero of the game like the other preceding and succeeding Tenkai Stars, who are the main heroes of their respective games.
Thomas is the master of Budehuc Castle and 15 years old during the Second Fire Bringer War. Before the war, he lived with his mother in the Northern Outlands. He is sluggish but polite, tender and always doing his best effort in everything he does.
When his mother died, he went to the Grasslands to find his father, Lowma, a Zexen councilor. Lowma did not give a warm welcome to his illegitimate son, whom he had no use for and who could damage his reputation. Lowma, searching for a way to remove Thomas, appointed Thomas as the new master of Budehuc Castle, a dilapidated old castle that directly lied between the Zexen and Grassland border. At the castle, Thomas met and befriended Cecile, the then self-appointed commander of the Castle Guards, Juan, a rather lazy Bujustu instructor, Piccolo, an old fortune teller, Martha, an old Karayan lottery ticket seller, Muto, a scatterbrained Kobold warehouse keeper, Sebastian, the worrywart butler, and Eike, the castle's gloomy librarian.
Not long after officially becoming the master of the castle, Thomas faced his first of many duties. A mother from the village of Nor was looking for her lost son who was also named Thomas. Organizing a search party with the residents of the castle, they searched its grounds. It wasn't until they found Juan that they learned that Thomas may be up at Mt. Hei-Tou due to Juan once telling the boy about how he slew a tiger up there once. After successfully rescuing the young child and returning to his castle, Thomas soon learned that the castle was in dire need of funds or risk letting Cecile, Juan, and Muto go. After meeting with his inner circle, it is decided to rent out the castle's empty space to vendors for money. This, however, does not go over well with the Zexen Council, who saw this as an act of rebellion. After several clashes with the Zexen Councilor Durabum and the Border Patrol, Thomas manages to out maneuver them by selling the castle to Chief Lucia of the Karaya Clan for 200 Potch, who, in turn, leases the castle to them for 1 Potch per year. Later, it was Thomas who suggested that the Fire Bringer set up headquarters at his castle, as it was ideally situated between Zexen and Grassland borders.
At the end, Thomas and Cecile defended Sasarai from Luc's attacks and were knocked down many times, refusing to back down even in the face of death. Luc reluctantly allowed them all to live, having pressing matters to attend to concerning the current bearer of the True Fire Rune.
Role in the GameEdit
Joins automatically in Thomas Chapter 1.
Thomas has 1 fixed skill slot and 7 free skill slots, giving him the highest level of customization in the game. The fixed skill he learns is Parry (obtained at lv. 30).
Thomas is an average fighter statistically. He's not terrible, but he doesn't excel at anything either. Despite this, Thomas actually does well with several skills. His one unique skill, Parry, can be raised to an A+ ranking, which makes him quite formidable. Thomas also gets an A+ ranking in both Accuracy and Repel, which, combined with his Parry skill and B+ ranked Swing and Holy Dash skills, makes him very good at deflecting attacks and scoring occasionally powerful blows against opponents. Once Jefferson is recruited, Thomas is a good candidate for the "Emperor" title if the player chooses to teach Thomas the Damage skill (B → B+). Even without a title, Thomas can have up to 4 S-ranked skills (Parry, Accuracy, Repel, and Wind Magic) with the right equipment attached.

Thomas gets two rune slots to play with. Magically, his best rune is either a Wind Rune or Cyclone Rune, as he gets his highest magic skill ranking in Wind Magic. Sadly, he is mostly average or poor with most magic rune types, and normally his stats do not make him a stellar mage.
It might be best to give Thomas a Double Strike Rune to help complement his above average ranking with some combat skills while also covering for his average stats.
If a player decides to have both Thomas and Cecile in the party in later chapters, the player should consider getting at least one Balance Rune only found in a treasure chest guarded by the Ghost Knight treasure boss on the Mountain Path in Chapter 4. This missable rune complements Thomas and Cecile's Unite Attack by preventing Thomas from becoming unbalanced after using it.
Best in roles that are similar to his own personality.
Oh, a comment box. Interesting idea. Let's continue using it.
I was puzzled with Eike at first, but after we became friends, I saw that he is a good person. Don't be afraid of him.
He sometimes screws up, but he's trying very hard.
The castle is a little old, but favorably located.
This castle is getting busy. At first I was worried, but I hope more people come now.
He is an ordinary boy in all respects, but he's the master of a castle as well. Needless to say, he has a sweet tooth.
He's not a fast runner, but he's good at swimming.
I saw him practice his kicking in the bathtub.
He loves mild curry. Sometimes he makes it himself and serves it to Castle residents, but only children like its mild flavor.
- Thomas is the only Tenkai Star in the main series who is neither the main character nor a bearer of a True Rune, a part of a True Rune, or a special Rune derived from an actual True Rune in the course of the plot. This is because of the Trinity Sight System introduced in this game.
- Thomas is tied with Beecham and Gadget Z for being the most customizable character in the game, having 7 free skill slots for the player to use.
- In the ending credits of Suikoden II, Gilbert is known to have come as a mercenary from Zexen, and he returned there after the war with Highland. In one of the entries from him on the castle's suggestion's box, he says that he has a son by the name of "Thomas".
- Thomas' starting money in Suikoden III is 500 potch.
- Thomas won't pick up any items from the corpses lying around the dungeons, forests, etc.
- Thomas' name means "twin."
- Thomas can't climb ladders.
