As the former capital of Falena and location of the Sacred Games, Stormfist is the home of both great political and military importance, a fact the House of Godwin used to their political advantage. The city has numerous defenses to protect it from invasion; walled throughout the entire city by stone walls, with two floating walls in the Feitas, Stormfist is difficult to invade via the ground. Formed of two natural islands, the two parts of Stormfist are connected via a single draw bridge, making it extremely difficult to invade.
Stormfist was the home of the Godwin faction; however, their dominion over it was relatively recent; Stormfist was previously ruled by the House of Aethelbald, but around 350, the Godwins took control of the area, forcing the Aethelbalds out of power.
Despite the movement of the capital to Sol-Falena, Stormfist held onto great political importance due to it's hosting of the Sacred Games. The Sacred Games, held to determine the husband of the future Queen, were an event of unparalleled importance; due the way Falenan politics were centered, the family who could manage to marry a son to the future Queen was to have unparalleled access to the crown. The Sacred Games, in fact, generated a sub-industry of gladiatorial fighters that nobles would use to fight as proxies in the battles. As the nobles were generally able to hire the best fighters, they almost always became the victors, with children not in line for the throne often married to other factions in order to make peace. Stormfist's hosting of this event, arguably the biggest event for any generation, ensured it's unique importance in Falena.
In the year 450, the Sacred Games were discontinued by order of Queen Lymsleia Falenas. However, Stormfist's importance remains, and may even have increased, as it is now the home of the Recruit Training Academy.
Recruit Training AcademyEdit
The Academy was formally the Stormfist Arena, where both gladiatorial fights and the Sacred Games were held. The arena was converted into the Recruit Training Academy in 450, after the Falenan Civil War saw the dismantlement of the gladiatorial system throughout Falena.
Belcoot currently serves as an instructor at the academy.
A castle famed for its defensive capabilities, Stormfist Castle was the home of the House of Godwin until 449, when the Godwin faction moved to the Sun Palace in Sol-Falena.
Rosalind Godwin is buried beneath Stormfist Castle as a show of love from her husband, Marscal who, with this act, had made the entire castle her headstone.
Despite it's trumpeted defensive prowess, Stormfist Castle fell quickly to the Loyalist Army during the latter stages of the Falenan Civil War even with Dilber Novum leading the defense of the city.
