Skald Egan appear in Suikoden V.
Skald is the Admiral of the Island Nations Federation Fleet and the Captain of the flagship of the Obel Maritime Fleet, the Lino En Kuldes. For the Island Nation, he's their kind-hearted, grandfatherly protector, but for pirates he's the most frightening sea demon imaginable. Skald have eight children and two of them are Ferid Egan and Bernadette Egan.
According to Georg Prime, Skald is a a good and reasonable man, and as long as the person is honest, he will listen. He always does mind games to trick his daughter, Bernadette, who usually takes everything he says seriously. Even though he always tricks his daughter, he truly cares about her welfare. Skald wanted Bernadette to see the world and find out who she really is, so he played his mind game again on Bernadette when Freyjadour asked for help. When Bernadette fell for it and went with the prince, Skald asked Georg to take good care of her.
Skald was sent by the Island Nations as ambassador to Princess Lymsleia's coronation. When the Lino En Kuldes ship docks at the Nirva Island for supplies, he is expecting that one of the member of the Loyalist Army will come to meet him, but he didn't expect that the Prince Freyjadour Falenas would come to see him himself. At the end of the negotiation Skald told that the Island Nations sees the civil war in Falena as an internal issue and it's not an Island Nations issue, it's up to Falena to decide, which side is the legitimate power. He also told that, just like Falena, the Island Nations have people of influence who are close to Godwins. They hope to use the coronation ceremony as a chance to deepen ties with them, but he'll do as much as he can to hold them back and preserve their neutrality. Skald feels terrible because Bernadette is the only one who he could send back with Freyjadour.
Later, Lucretia sent Skald a message about Armes is sided with the Godwins. When it turned out to be true, Skald sailed his ship directly towards Falena. This gave Shula an excuse to pull back the Armes Western Marine Corps. After the war end, Skald hunt Yahr and Nelis for destroying the rune cannon shell that is left on the armory of the Island Nations.
- Unknown to the Prince, Skald is his grandfather.
