A mountain pass with a harsh climate, North Sparrow Pass was one of the few routes between Highland and the City-States of Jowston. Often shrouded in mist, it is also the home of numerous monsters and bandits. In SY 460, Riou and his entourage, with the purpose of going home to Kyaro, crossed the pass after Rina bribed or tricked the Jowston guards into letting them through. During their trip, they encountered the large and dangerous Mist Shade and successfully battled it. After these events and the return of Riou to the City-States, the pass was closed for the duration of the Dunan Unification War and was reopened after the victory over the Highland forces, making the North Sparrow Pass a part of the Dunan Republic.
