- "You must all strive to be knights even greater than Troy!"
- —Glen, Suikoden IV.
Glen Cott was the Commander of the Gaien Knights in Razril. He was unknowingly the father of Katarina, the Vice-Commander of the Gaien Knights and was possibly looking into adopting Lazlo, before his death. His personality was one of a tough but caring man, as he would strike and scold Snowe for his wrongdoings, but at the same time, worry about Lazlo's safety. He fought with a double-edged sword during his life as a knight.
Glen's fleet was defeated by Troy, causing him to push the Gaien Knight Trainee to be better than Troy. He apparently sent letters to the head of Middleport, Schtolteheim Reinbach II asking for such things as financial aid or orphan adoptions. After the graduation day of the Gaien Knights Trainee, he allowed Snowe and Lazlo to escort Ramada to Iluya island.
He got worried when he learned that Snowe, along with Lazlo, and Ramada's ship had been attacked by Pirate Brandeau. He followed them and found Snowe who was running away, he scolded Snowe and went toward the ship were Lazlo and Ramada boarded. He obtained the Rune of Punishment after Lazlo's duel with Brandeau when he infiltrated their ship.
Ever since then, he had a shooting pain in his left arm whenever the Rune shone, and often asked to be left alone. Katarina, worried for his health, confined him to bed. He died not long after a large group of pirates, led by Dario, surprise-attacked Razril and he was forced to use the Rune of Punishment to destroy several of their ships and to send them into their retreat. His death was witnessed by Snowe and Lazlo, despite his earlier demand to Katarina that no one be allowed within the Hall of Knights. His last thoughts were of how much Lazlo had grown. Unfortunately, Snowe accused Lazlo for the death of commander Glenn, when it was clearly the runes fault. This lead to Lazlo and two of the Razril knights, to accompany him on his journey of being exiled for the murder of Glenn.
Lazlo later on, met the shadow of Glen after using the Rune of Punishment for the third time. When Glen faded into ashes, he commented on how much stronger Lazlo had become.
- In Suikoden IV, after Lazlo brings the medicine to Glen's room, if you opt to choose the second option ("I bought some medicine..."), you will see Glen looking healthy wearing his breastplate and his left hand without the Rune of Punishment after the cutscene. This could probably be a mistake in the coding of the game.
- As seen in the opening fight with Snowe and Lazlo, Commander Glen had a fire rune piece embedded in it.
