Story[]
Suikoden IV[]
He was first seen in Razril during the Kindling Ritual festival, right after the initiation of the new batch of Gaien Knights. He told Razro about the kidnapping at the back street, prompting Snowe and Razro to react. When Razro was exiled from Gaien, Chiepoo, Paula and Keneth stayed by his side on the exile ship. They survived an episode with Colton and Troy, but found themselves once again lost at sea until the group washed up on the Deserted Island. During their stay on the island, Chiepoo placed himself in charge of gathering the food, mainly fishing, but Chiepoo's weakness for crab meat eventually lead him to try to capture some of the island's crab population which greatly angered the island's Master, who summoned its children to attack the Nay-Kobold and forcing the party to come to his rescue.
Later, the group escaped the Deserted Island and was finally rescued by Flare and the Obel Navy. Chiepoo asked the King of Obel to let him stay on his island to continue his studies and to helps Razro recruit people for the King. After the Kooluk invaded and the party escaped on the Dauntless, Chiepoo remained with Razro and joined the Island Liberation Navy. After Razro gained the Golden Seal of Obel, Chiepoo accompanied him to Nay Island, so he could check out the trade shop in the Nay-Kobold village. Along the way, the Golden Seal was stolen by Nalkul, who hoped to sell it. Chiepoo confronted Nalkul and his friend Champo in order to get the Seal back. Once the two learned who Chiepoo was, he acknowledged that he has become a bit of a celebrity among the youth of his island.
Chiepoo has been trying to run and operate a store for almost his whole life. He opened a store on the Obel Flagship during the Island Liberation War. Afterwards, he moved to the Deserted Island for its prime location, yet lack of competition.
Suikoden Tactics[]
In the aftermath of the war, Chiepoo moved to the Deserted Island and opened up his own business called "Chiepoo & Co." Chiepoo soon gets into a rivalry with a mysterious merchant business called "X & Co." as the two battle for business supremacy. Chiepoo's business got help indirectly from Kyril as he picked up guild requests for Chiepoo that helped further his business but X & Co. also began making requests for both help of their business or to try and sabotage Chiepoo's business. They even enlisted the aid of a mercenary band that Kyril faced on more than one occasion. Chiepoo's fate was largely left up to which actions the players choose. He can either crush his opponents and become filthy rich, ready to expand his empire to the world, he can reach modest success and still be in competition with X & Co., or he can be run out of business and sent to the pauper's house if the player chooses only to help X & Co.
Role in the Game[]
Chiepoo joins automatically after the being banished from Razril.
Chiepoo is a surprisingly good fighter with decent attack power and one of the faster characters in the game. The Nay-Kobold exclusive gear also garners some nice bonuses that can buff up his good stats.

Chiepoo has good Rune Affinity with earth elements, so an Earth Rune is recommended for magic. His MP pool is low, so it may be more advisable to give him passive melee type runes like a Killer Rune, Double Strike Rune, or Fury Rune.

- Keen: You have done well by coming here. In this room, you may confess what is in your heart and accept proper judgement.
- Chiepoo: Huh? What? If I confess something, am I going to be punished?
- Keen: Would you secretly inform me about anyone on board this ship who you think is causing problems?
- Chiepoo: Um... Um... M-Me, maybe? I don't know...
- Chiepoo: He's a good ally. Yeah.
- Keen: Finally, quietly confess the things you wish to atone for, or all the things that you are thankful for.
- Chiepoo: Something to apologize about? Nothing that I know of...
- Keen: Then, I shall pass judgement!
Um, um... I just wanted to say I'm a little hungry. Okay see ya!
You know, I still dream of becoming a famous merchant someday. When we head out, I'm gonna take detailed notes of everything being sold.
A young Nay-Kobold merchant who has finally fulfilled his dream of opening up his very own shop in the Island Nations. He aspires to expand his business in hopes of becoming a world famous merchant!
Chiepoo is not a recruitable character in Suikoden Tactics, instead he is the focus of a large side quest concerning the rivalry between his business, Chiepoo & Co against the mysterious X & Co. Chiepoo and rival have several quests that Kyril can undertake which will either help or hinder their businesses. If Kyril either fails Chiepoo related Guild Quests or helps complete X & Co missions, Chiepoo's business will either fail or will not grow very much. If the player only successfully completes Chiepoo's requests and either ignores or fails the X & Co missions, then Chiepoo's business will flourish and Chiepoo will get richer.
As Chiepoo's business flourishes, his outfit changes to reflect his wealth. The wares of his store also change and the player can get access to some nice choice gear. The real "prize" of doing this quest chain is that helping Chiepoo succeed will help open up a special quest that allows Kyril to recruit the four Mercenaries that X & Co have employed and Kyril has faced off with on more than one occassion.Trivia[]
- If Chiepoo is in your active party at any time, he will be shown on the loading screen instead of Razro.
- If he and Jeane are both in the active party, Chiepoo takes priority as the loading screen character.
- In Suikoden IV, Chiepoo is playable and Noah is not playable. But in Suikoden Tactics, they switch, Noah is playable and Chiepoo is not.
