Champo was once a pickpocket along with Nalkul on Nay Island. One day while the two of them were out they ran into Lazlo and Chiepoo. After Nalkul stole the Golden Seal from Lazlo, the two were found hiding behind the warehouse. Champo was admiring the seal becasue it was shiny and became upset when he found out that Nalkul was going to sell it. Soon after they were approached by Lazlo and Chiepoo who were looking for the seal, Nalkul first acted like he hadn't seen it, but when prompted by Lazlo to "Give it back", Nalkul tossed it to Champo who became suddenly surprised at this and accidently threw it up onto the window ledge of the warehouse. Then one of the many mice that infest the warehouse knocked the seal into the warehouse. After Chiepoo explained who they were, Champo and Nalkul apologized and offered to retrieve the seal for them on the condition that they be allowed to join the Island Liberation Navy. After sucessfully retrieving the seal, Champo is seen asking Nalkul if it was alright that they didn't ask anyone else to come along, to Nalkul replied that everyone else had their own lives, that they'd be the only ones that weren't missed. After the war Champo, Nalkul and Noah all went into business together and became merchants.
Role in the GameEdit
After obtaining the Golden Seal head to Nay Island with Chiepoo in your party. After landing in the human settlement, Chiepoo will talk about going to the trading post. Go to the Nay Kobold settlement and talk to people until you hear word of pickpockets. Leave via the suspension bridge there should be a cut scene at the end of the bridge where a Nay Kobold will bump into you. After realizing the Golden Seal is gone, go behind the trade shop and confront the thieves. After losing the Golden Seal play as Champo in a mini-game where you must catch three mice in 60 seconds, and put them in a cage. After you succeed both Champo and Nalkul will join you.

- Keen: You have done well by coming here. In this room, you may confess what is in your heart and accept proper judgement.
Champo: ...? I don't really get you...
- Keen: Would you secretly inform me about anyone on board this ship who you think is causing problems?
Champo: Problems? What... is that?
Champo: Mr. Lazlo? I know! He's Mr. Chiepoo's underling!
- Keen: Finally, quietly confess the things you wish to atone for, or all the things that you are thankful for.
Champo: ... I don't really get it, but... I'm not apologizing! Nalkul told me that you've lost if you apologize!
- Keen: Then, I shall pass judgement!
Champo: Hmm? ... I did it!! I did it, Nalkul!!
Champo: Ouch!! wh-What d'you do that for?!

Visit Merseto in Chapter 15 or beyond, and listen to the gossip of the "Old Man," which concerns an attack on some Nay-Kobold merchants at the port. Go to the port area, and a battle will begin. If you can defeat all their enemies, Champo, Nalkul and Noah will join you.
Well, he's got a lot of good defensive skills, which I guess makes up for his inability to equip any decent armor. And his ACC isn't terrible for someone without the Bull's Eye skill, so there's that. And he can equip Lion Rune, so... that's pretty cool, I guess. He's still the worst Lion Rune user though. I guess he's kind of like Akaghi, in that his best use is to be run out into the middle of a bunch of mobs and draw fire while your real assets come in after for the kill. Unlike Akaghi, though, he can perma-die, so maybe he's better off benched. Only use him if you have SO MANY Hands of God that you can even give him one, I would say.
