Beasts are animals or other type of feral beings who more than often know how to fight, and are generally put in use in wars as potential soldiers and as a shock value for the enemy, due their fierce or majestic apparence.
In Suikoden, Beast characters generally can't equip any armor or sharpen their weapons, but they can equip accessories and use items. In some Suikoden games, some large Beasts can take up to two slots on the party formation.
Most playable beasts in the Suikoden Series are highly intelligent, and are able to understand human speech.
